SCHOOL FLU POLICY

This week we are beginning to have students absent with flu-like symptoms, as reported by their parents.  Most are under doctor’s care, but all will remain out of school until the symptoms are gone and they are “fever-free” for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications.  If a WCS student has flu-like symptoms, has been seen by a doctor, and is out more than 3-days, then a doctor’s note will be required to return to school. Please note: We are being told that some doctors are not seeing patients who have flu-like symptoms, if these symptoms can be managed with over-the-counter remedies.

If you read the flu Information we sent you at the start of school, you’ll know that we have already taken serious measures to keep our families and staff healthy during this flu season.   We have also instructed staff members to begin asking students about symptoms suggestive of a respiratory infection such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches and fatigue.  Any student who has at least 2 of these symptoms will be sent to the school office, isolated, and sent home as soon as possible.   We also asked you to be informed and prepared as a family.  Click the link below, if you need this information again.

Click here for School Flu Kit to view our School Information regarding our policy and tips on safeguarding against flu and what to do if you get it.  Please read the information closely as this is very important for the health and safety of us all.
