One special part of a child's education at Whittier Christian Schools is grade level field trips.  These trips provide a special connection with the curriculum they have been studying.  Along with their teachers, Administrator, and parent chaperones, students visit and experience science and history with a hands on learning experience.

Beginning in third grade, students venture out in field trips a little further and head on a train to San Diego to visit the Zoo.  This is a very fun trip for the students as they learn about the various animals and their homes.

Cost for the trip is approx. $90 per participant which includes all admissions including train fare.*

Our Fourth graders are thrilled by their trip to Sacramento and San Francisco, enhancing their study of California history.  They travel by air to Sacramento, and then board busses for tours of Sutter's Fort, pan for gold in the  American River at Coloma, visit the State Capitol, the Railroad Museum, and have a chance to shop in Old Town Sacramento.  After spending 1 1/2 days in Sacramento, we visit the Jelly Belly Factory on our way to San Francisco to visit Alcatraz, enjoy a cable car ride, eat and shop at Pier 39, tour the Cable Car Museum and visit the Fortune Cookie factory and visit China Town.

Cost of the trip is approx. $600 per participant.*

Fifth graders at WCS Maybrook travel back in time to experience life on a brig sailing ship dating to the California settlers, hide tanners and traders, and what travel from England was like across rugged oceans, and in challenging conditions.  Students stand watch, hoist the sails, cook a meal for their crew mates including hard tack, and keep a journal of their post during a 2 hour watch.

Cost for the trip is approx. $120 per participant. *

Sixth graders on both elementary campuses participate in a week long Nature Study Camp at Mount Palomar in San Diego.  Students sleep in cabins, participate in nature walks and outdoor science labs, daily chapel times, and enjoy getting to know each other better.

Cost for the trip is approx. $350 per participant.*

* Prices subject to change based on 2009-2010 trip contracts.
